Republic Day – Short Essay
India is a republic country. On 26th January every year our country celebrates the Republic Day. On this date in the year 1950 independent India adopted the constitution declaring the nation as a Republic. Since then we celebrate this day every year as Republic Day.
It is a very important day. It is national festival. I like it most. The rich and poor celebrate it alike. The Republic Day is celebrated in the form of a parade on the Rajpath in Delhi — the capital of India. The highest military awards are also presented on this occasion at the parade. Children showing exemplary courage, selected from all over the country, are also awarded.
This year, I went to the India Gate to see it. People sat by the roadside to watch the parade. The president took the salute from the army. Thousands of soldiers took part in the parade. They passed through the main roads. School boys and girls also took part. Then followed the pageants. The scenes were beautiful. They showed the way of life in different states. The whole parade was lovely.
