How to Add Instance to SAP MMC

The SAP Microsoft Management Console (MMC) provides a graphical user interface to administer SAP systems from Windows PCs. By default it is installed with any SAP application server on Windows. Because, the default configuration allows to administer locally installed SAP application server, therefore SAP MMC provides option to add any local or remote application server.

Any SAP Basis Consultant / Administrator, monitor and manage more than one SAP Server Instances, therefore it is necessary to manage/ monitor all SAP Server Instances from one SAP MMC (Microsoft Management Console). Follow below steps to add instances to SAP MMC.

1. Start SAP MMC

2. Right click on SAP System.  Click on Properties. Screen as per below image will display:

3. Click on Tab “Fixed”. Following window will appear.

4. Provide input for System and Instance as below:

  • System: Instance Name like “IDS”
  • Instance: Hostname and Instance No like “ERPTRAINING1 00”

5. Click on Add button

6. Server Instance has been added to MMC. Now refresh the MMC to check the status of Server.

7. Add all the SAP server instances (ABAP and JAVA) and start monitoring / managing all server instances from one MMC.

How to Add Transport Request to Import Queue

In SAP landscape, many times it is necessary to manually add transport requests to import queue. In this post you will learn how to add transport request to import queue. Following are the steps to achieve the same.

1. Execute tcode STMS_IMPORT (All the requests shall be there in the transport queue. However, you require to add another transport request in the queue, which is not available in the queue.)

2. Select Menu ( Extras – Other Requests – Add) as shown below.

3. Screen as shown in below image will appear.

4. Type transport request no., which you want to add to import queue.

5. Press F4 key. Select the request.

6. Refresh the queue and you will see the add transport request.

SAP Functional Consultant often require to check user authorization. Therefore, as a SAP Basis Consultant / Administrator you will get get the requirement to create a role for SU01 Display in SAP. Following is the method to create a Role for SU01 Display in SAP.

  • Do not think to create a role with SU01 tcode and modify that for display only. Besides, There is a tcode available for SU01 display. The tcode for SU01 display is SU01D.
  • Create a new role and add only one tcode SU01D in the newly created role.
  • You have created a role for SU01 display.
